Meeting the Land

A Nordic Quest into the forest - back into peaceful kinship with the land, it’s spirits and ourselves.

Join us for a journey into the wild forest — both within and around you.

This two-day retreat invites you into the old ways of communion with nature. At its heart is Udesidning - our Nordic form of Vision Quest and one of the oldest shamanic rites preserved in Scandinavia.

Nature - not as a concept of the mind.
It is a lived experience of belonging.
As a state of being.

Around the fire.
In the fresh fjord water.
In the forest.
In ceremony and in silence.

We journey inward to meet our own wild nature.
To realign.
To reconnect.
With earth, body, and spirit.

We attune ourselves to the rhythms and cycles of the land.

What This Retreat Is About

This is a retreat about rewilding and coming back to the old ways.

It is about restoring connection:

  • With our wild nature, within and around us

  • With the body

  • With the masculine and feminine currents within

  • With our ancestral lineage

  • With community

  • With the land itself

It is a space for inner healing.
For decolonising our relationship to nature.
For remembering how to belong.

Guided by the wisdom of nature, we step out of time and technology and back into the forest.
Back into simplicity.
Back into presence.

Grounded. Rooted. Real.
Authentic, playful, meaningful.
Fire & ceremony.
Belonging & connection.

This is an opportunity for a greater understanding of yourself, embedded in nature.

Udesidning/Mørkesidning

An Udesidning (“Sitting Out”) is one of the oldest shamanic practices preserved in Scandinavia.

If you are familiar with North American Indigenous traditions, you may have heard of the Vision Quest. Udesidning is our Nordic expression of a similar rite — different in form, yet aligned in spirit.

In an Udesidning, you literally sit out.

You leave the comforts society and step beyond the hedge that separates the cultivated world from the wild, untamed places.

You sit out in nature, in the darkness, in solitude, in silence.
You sit out and ask nature to share it’s medicine and wisdom.
You sit out

  • with a question, an intention or an contemplation and you ask for a sign, a vision, a meeting.

  • to honor a life transition / rite of passage

Traditionally, Udesidning takes place from sunset to sunrise.

For this retreat, you may also choose a shorter version called Mørkesidning (“Sitting with the Dark”). Here, you sit from sunset and a few hours into the evening, before returning to sleep in your tent or hammock.

This is still a potent ritual — and a good option if a full night feels too intense.

When We Are Sitting Out…

We will be outside.
Sleeping on the ground in tents.
Cooking local organic foods on bonfire.
Drinking teas made from fresh herbs of the season.

Guided by nature, we journey inward.
Reclaim ancestral healing.
Invite more pleasure.
Deepen our connection to the earth.
Move our bodies together.

Together we listen…

This retreat is a prayer.
A portal.

A space where — for ourselves, for each other, and for all our relations (human and more-than-human) — we weave back connection where there was separation.

For our lineage.
For the land.
For ourselves.

Together we go back into simplicity.
Off the electronics.
Feet on the ground.
Listening to the forest.
Washing ourselves clean in the fjord-water.

Why Sitting Out?

Many of us live against our own nature — whether women or men.
Where we are encouraged to push through, to perform, to stay in “control” — even when it means ignoring our own needs and inner signals.

Over time, we make ourselves smaller.
We silence our inner voice.
Our intuition becomes muted.
We feel disconnected — from the earth, from our pleasure, from our natural power.

The same pattern is reflected around us.
Water is dammed.
Rivers and land are polluted.

The pain and healing journey of the earth and the collective is not separate from the individual journey.
And we are not alone.

We invite you beyond conceptualizing and objectifying — into sensing and experiencing. Into connection that is embodied and real.

Nature - not as a concept. But as a belonging.
Sensing through your body - not as a concept. But as a state of being.
